A sharp French political satire from Zef, Kak, and Degreff, this 2021 album kicks off with a cover that's immediately hard to look away from: a grinning caricature of Emmanuel Macron poses for a selfie alongside Brigitte and their dog Nemo, all framed by the Eiffel Tower through an Élysée Palace window, while a crowd of caricatured figures — including a scowling Trump with boxing gloves, a bearded prime minister, a general, and various other political personalities — jostle for position around them. Books by Gide, Stendhal, and de Gaulle are stacked nearby, a French tricolor and EU flag flank the scene, and the subtitle Pardon de vous le dire… sets the tone perfectly. It's a wonderfully chaotic snapshot of Year One of the Macron era, rendered with affectionate but pointed wit.
