From Gallimard Bande Dessinée comes this 2025 graphic novel by Hugues Barthe, whose clean, expressive linework sets the tone immediately: the warm orange cover gathers five adults of different generations — including an older woman in an apron, an elderly man with a cane, and a younger man at the center — alongside a pair of chickens pecking at their feet, all regarding the viewer with varying degrees of suspicion and unease. The title, Mémoires d'un traître ("Memoirs of a Traitor"), hints at family, rural life, and something quietly complicated simmering beneath the surface. A compelling and distinctly human story feels close at hand.
