M-G-M's Lassie #4
In "Marooned," the crew of the Sprite II finds themselves stranded on the remote island of Piranga Chica after a sudden tidal wave wrecks their ship. With tensions rising and survival at stake, Rocky and Ling take charge, rescuing Lassie and securing the mutineers' weapons—only for Rocky to be felled by a thrown rock, leaving him unconscious for nearly two weeks. As days pass, the group faces new dangers, including a treacherous pirate attack and a deadly ambush, all while clinging to hope. The story unfolds with tense pacing and quiet heroism, as the survivors work to outwit their enemies and signal for help. Written by Gaylord Du Bois and illustrated by Mo Gollub, this 1951 Dell adventure captures the spirit of classic adventure comics, with dynamic artwork and a gripping, character-driven narrative. The cover by Mo Gollub perfectly captures the isolation and suspense of the island.
