The fifth volume of Soleil's Luuna series, "Le Cercle des Miroirs," presents a striking image: a lone young woman with long dark hair and a flowing outfit walks forward through stark white space while a massive pack of dark wolves surges toward her from behind. The contrast between her solitary, composed figure and the overwhelming tide of animals gives the cover an immediate, quiet tension. Risse and Kéramidas have built something genuinely compelling with this series, and this 2007 entry looks like a natural high point.
