A young person floats in a dreamy, nighttime low orbit above a quiet small town — nose deep in a book, earbuds trailing, completely at peace with the improbability of it all. Kazimir Lee renders the scene in warm purples and deep blues, with glowing windows and a church steeple far below hinting at a world the reader has momentarily escaped. Low Orbit from IDW looks like exactly the kind of graphic novel that rewards slow, unhurried reading — perhaps best enjoyed while pretending you, too, are hovering somewhere above it all.
