“Love Thief”

In "Love Thief," newlyweds Emily and John face a storm of emotion when Emily confesses a painful secret from her past—her trauma at age 18 has left her unable to love as she once was expected to. John’s reaction is swift and harsh, leaving Emily to grapple with fear and isolation, but when he falls ill upon their return home, her devotion as a caregiver becomes a quiet turning point. With heartfelt sincerity and emotional depth, Al Wenzel’s artwork brings this intimate, poignant story to life, capturing the fragile hope of healing in the aftermath of pain.

On their honeymoon, Emily confesses to her husband John that she was raped at age 18 and now can “never love anybody in the way I was expected to—-never!” John angrily leaves her alone and says they will annul their marriage.
