Cathy becomes engaged to her college sweetheart, but he wants follow his family into the “noble profession” of farming. She convinces him to move to Chicago and get a job in advertising. Hank tries, but is unhappy and decides to return to Missouri; Cathy breaks up with him. Later, sent by her newspaper to take photos of flooding in Missouri, she meets Hank once more. They’re nearly killed in a flood, and Cathy realizes she loves Hank and wants to share his life even if he’s a farmer.
