Melissa’s “much-married, much-divorced” mother Bibi forces her to dress younger than her age, so Bibi won’t seem so old. At college, Melissa’s roommates give her a makeover. When she graduates, Melissa’s mother gets her a job as a commercial artist in New York so she’ll be out of the way. Melissa falls in love with art director Don and takes him home to meet Bibi. When Bibi flirts with Don, Melissa turns her attentions to Bibi’s latest boyfriend Norman. Ashamed of her actions, Melissa drives off and crashes her car. She is uninjured and Bibi is repentant.
