Sue's family, the village townspeople and the love of her life face the forced evacuation of their ancestral valley homes to make way for a new reservoir. A surveyor working on the project becomes smitten with Sue and says he can stop the project if she will marry him. To save her friends and family from losing their homes, Sue is willing to sacrifice her love and agrees to his conditions.
