Bob refuses to move on in the checkout queue at the supermarket until Pat agrees to go out with him. Pat goes out with Bob many times after that and discovers that Bob is not like anyone else she has ever dated. Bob feels like one of the objects he makes at his factory job - just a mass produced item. His opinions begin to affect Pat until one day at work she announces that she is quitting.
