Joy joins her step-father on the French Riviera. He introduces her to a wealthy widow who asks Joy to stay with her. Soon, Joy's step-father tells her his business partner has gone off with his money, but feels he can make his mine profitable if he had some seed money. When Joy tells this to the widow, she offers the money to him, but the story was just a scam. Seeing Joy had also been duped, the widow generously invites Joy to join her and her son when they return to England. Romance blossoms between Joy and the widow's son until she sees her step-father at a party given by Lady Pamela Riley.
