Carol meets Jack at the museum where she works. He is asked to do a film script on Don John, an Englishman that aroused the Caracuans to revolt, then disappeared. Knowing her father had travelled to places like Caracua, she takes his little black box without his permission. Inside the box, Jack discovers maps and names. Jack invites Carol to come with him to Caracua as his secretary to investigate. Hoping to get Jack interested in her, Carol agrees. However, her plans seem to be thwarted in Caracua when they meet another young woman who claims to be the daughter of Don John.
