Everyone tells Anne what a great catch Frank would be, but she doesn't want to marry for money. When a man makes a pass at her at a bus stop, a merchant sailor comes to her rescue. After spending the rest of the night with him, she is convinced he is the one. He leaves his life as a sailor, but he is not responsible on the jobs he gets and Anne begins to realize he will never make a go of anything. Meanwhile, Frank has never given up on her, but now doesn't want to see her after his partner embezzled the firm's funds and left him penniless.
