A promising reporter, Kim is assigned to cover the engagement and wedding of singer Sidonie Haye to the Sheik of El Obar. Kim had been friends with Sidonie in school years ago and through her, she meets Yusef and Art Damon, an American engaged to run the sheik's oil fields. Art warns Kim about having romantic notions of the East, but she bristles at his attitude. However, Yusef's brother claims the sheik is a traitor for imposing his infidel wife on the people and has Sidonie kidnapped. When Kim calls her editor, he orders Kim to get inside the harem to get the story.
