Love Story Picture Library #597
"Man in Mind" is a quietly compelling story from Love Story Picture Library #597 (1966), where a determined Englishwoman, Denise Martin, arrives in the American West to take up a veterinary role with the Cattlemen's Association—only to find the men of Grovers Wells skeptical of a woman in such a position. With art by Jordi Franch, the issue captures the tension and quiet resolve of a woman stepping into a world unaccustomed to her presence, all set against the stark backdrop of a remote railroad station.

As secretary of the Cattlemen's Association, Slim goes to the railroad station twenty miles from Grovers Wells to meet Mr. Denis Martin, an English gentleman that the association sent for to serve as their veterinary surgeon. But there has been a mistake and it is actually Denise Martin who arrives from England. She had felt there would be more scope for her work in the states and asked the government to put her in contact with organisations that might employ her. Denise has to overcome the cattlemen's misgivings about having a woman vet.
