Belinda can't resist forsaken animals and is warned if she brings home one more stray animal, she will be thrown out of her flat. She is already hiding a dog, but when a horse is tied up to the gate outside her building with a sign around its neck that reads "I'm Peggy. I need help badly.", she can't resist. She, Scruffy and Peggy start a trek toward her cousin Ann's farm forty miles away and Belinda meets Pete along the way.
