Laraine had claimed Mike was her fiance, but he insisted to Julie that he had no interest in marrying Laraine. He had been out roller skating with Julie on that fateful night when Laraine showed up with her friends. Trying to avoid a confrontation, Julie wanted Mike to crawl down a drain pipe in the back so they could avoid being seen together. But the drain pipe couldn't support Mike's weight and he died in the fall. Julie panicked and told the police that she was just passing by, but struggles with depression following the incident.
