Betsy has been raised by her aunt and uncle since she was eight, but they nag all the time. They worry about the time she spends with Johnny, who has a wild reputation, but she thinks of him as a brother. She actually has a crush on one of the young teachers at the tech. When she reveals this to Johnny, he tells her that he is in love with her himself. Johnny leaves town and Betsy discovers that the teacher she has a crush for is planning to marry one of the other teachers. Betsy leaves home and gets a job in London where she runs into Johnny.
