Joyce meets a seaman in the coffee bar where she works who seems sad because his girl left him while he was at sea. Joyce tries to convince him that all girls aren't like that. After that, things just seemed to happen and she promises to write him every day. Only later did she realize she couldn't write to him because she never found out his last name. In her desperate attempt to find him, she discovers that Garry tries that story of being jilted to every girl he meets.
