“Hearts Apart”

"Hearts Apart" is a tender 1974 romance from Love Story Picture Library #1175, where a simple moment—Lee knocking Tammy’s peanuts to the ground—sparks an unexpected connection. As their budding relationship unfolds, Tammy finds herself puzzled by the constant attention from other girls, leading to a moment of doubt when Lee’s excuse about a nonexistent sister falls apart. Written and illustrated with quiet charm by Carlos Freixas, the story captures the sweet, awkward tension of young love, all told through expressive, period-perfect artwork.

When Lee accidentally knocks the bag of peanuts out of Tammy's hands, he buys an armful of bags for her to make up for it. Tammy starts going out with him, but there always seems to be a new girl flirting with Lee. He claims they are friends of his sister, but when Tammy finds out he doesn't have a sister, she is ready to tell him off. Then he explains that girls have been after him after it became known that he won the soccer pools. But Tammy was different because she hadn't known about the lolly.
