An orphan since age ten, Jinty has been raised by her grandfather. She becomes worried when he sells 90% of his old gold mine again, knowing the mine has been played out for years. She had used her charm to talk the other six buyers to take back their cheques without suing. But the new owner is a young businessman from the east with romantic notions about life in the old west. With his strict attitude about swindlers, it seems likely that her grandfather will end up in jail until Jinty slips on oil oozing up through the ground near the mine.
