Tim's life as a fisherman keeps him away from Pat for long stretches where she gets lonely and worried. She tells him that she would rather have him around all the time even though it would mean less money. After Tim has to be rescued from a storm at sea, Pat gives him a choice: either her or the sea. At first, Tim tries to make a go of it working in a factory, but eventually decides to return to the sea. Pat returns to what she had always done: waiting and hoping.
