Linda meets a man at a dance and the two hit it off, but he abruptly leaves at midnight. They meet again at the next week's dance and Linda is sure she has found love. But when she invites him to meet her family, his friend calls to cancel at the last minute. When she sees Bruce on the street the next day, he claims he doesn't know her. Later he calls to say he can explain, but on the way home from work, she sees there has been trouble at the jeweler's and she sees Bruce being driven off in a police car.
