# Love Journal #22 (January 1954) This anthology issue contains multiple romance stories. "He Was My Man" follows Linda, whose boyfriend Carl begins neglecting her and eventually is seen with another woman; Linda watches him leave town with his new girlfriend and later learns from a doctor that she has no progressive disease, finding unexpected joy in this news. "Desert Romance" depicts a woman and man falling in love in the desert, with the woman initially conflicted about their passionate embrace but ultimately yielding to romance. "Lease on Love" follows Loretta, a woman caught between her feelings for her boss Harley Sanders and concerns about their relationship's future; when Harley dismisses her emotional protests and later expresses uncertainty about marriage, Loretta realizes that love in real life doesn't work as it does in storybooks.
