This issue contains the story "Can I Make Him Happy?" in which Emily, a shy wall-flower who avoided social situations, meets Ralph at a party and falls in love with him. After Ralph proposes marriage, Emily realizes their personalities are fundamentally incompatible—Ralph is gregarious and life-loving while she is withdrawn and reserved—and she fears she can never make him happy. The story also features "Branded!", which depicts a woman incarcerated at a state penitentiary for women who reflects on how her criminal past has marked her as an outcast, unable to escape the stigma of her conviction.
