Drama teacher Lee asks his student Janice to marry him, but she says she wants a career as an actress first. He says she has “a small talent” and will never be a star: Janice thinks he’s lying because he wants to discourage her. “Breezy playboy” Geoffrey offers to finance a show with her as the star. Lee warns Janice that Geoffrey may have “ulterior motives.” Janice appears in Geoffrey’s play and is a flop. He proposes to her and she refuses. Lee arrives and Janice agrees to marry him now that she has no career.
