Rain-soaked and emotionally charged, this third issue of Tom King and Elsa Charretier's Love Everlasting captures a raw confrontation between two women — one weeping on her knees in the downpour, the other standing composed under an umbrella, delivering what reads on the cover as a sharp, unsympathetic verdict on heartbreak. Charretier's retro linework, bathed in Matt Hollingsworth's cool blues and purples, gives the scene a mid-century romance comics feel with a distinctly modern edge. "Too Late for Love!" promises exactly the kind of tender devastation this series does so well.
