Helen is appointed a judge in the magistrate’s court. On her first day, she acquits Chuck of a robbery charge solely because she’s attracted to him. That night, Chuck visits her and they begin an affair, even though she discovers he’s working for gangster Larue. Chuck and his gang try to use Helen as their alibi after a robbery, but she denounces them to assistant district attorney Wade and the police, receiving a gunshot wound in the process. Helen decides to quit her job and marry Wade.
