“Flames of Jealousy”

In "Flames of Jealousy," a 1956 gem from Quality Comics, the pretensions of poet Jerome clash with the quiet sincerity of mechanic Ned when he convinces Leona she’s destined for literary greatness. As their relationship frays under the weight of ambition and doubt, Leona confronts her own insecurities—only to rediscover what truly matters. Art by Sam Citron brings this poignant, character-driven story to life, capturing the quiet drama of love, self-worth, and the simple joys of home.

Pretentious alleged “poet” and intellectual Jerome flatters Leona into believing she can become a novelist. This disrupts her relationship with her boyfriend Ned, a mechanic: “You’re going to be a housewife, so cut out the arty talk!” They break up, then Leona realises “I don’t have any talent!” She reconciles with Ned: “All I ever want to create is apple pie and pot roast!”
