"Victory in His Arms" follows a woman torn between her love for Paul and her sense of duty to Don, an Army serviceman. After a night of anguished deliberation over a love triangle, she resolves to break Paul's heart gently by phone rather than face him, hoping this sacrifice will strengthen her bond with Don. Later, she encounters Bill Gardiner at a social event and begins falling under his charm, leading her to question her commitment to Don and eventually confess to Bill that their friendship has deepened into love. The story concludes with the narrator anxiously awaiting word from Reid, another suitor, uncertain of where her affections truly lie.
