"Foolish Conquest" follows a woman named Penny who uses flattery and manipulation to attract men, believing she can have any man she wants. When she pursues a man named Ken, she employs various tactics to get his attention, including trying to make his friend Ruth jealous. However, Ken sees through her schemes and ultimately chooses Ruth instead, leaving Penny's arrogant assumptions about her power over men thoroughly deflated. The story includes a subplot involving Jim, a boxer whom Marty encourages to pursue a career in fighting, though the evening ends poorly when Jim becomes bored and leaves early.
