In "null," Iron Man faces off against the Freak, only to be overwhelmed when his suit's power wanes. The Freak storms Stark's lab, confronting Pepper Potts and an angry Senator Byrd, who steps in to protect her—only to be thrown aside. As Pepper collapses, the Freak lifts her, then drops her from an upper window when police open fire. Iron Man intercepts her fall with his repulsor ray and, returning to the lab, activates the Enervation Intensifier in a desperate attempt to restore the Freak to his true self.
