El Barón Zemo al conocer que el Capitán América está vivo, funda un grupo de supervillanos, los Maestros del mal. En un primer enfrentamiento Gigante y el Capitán América quedan atrapados en el adhesivo-X que los villanos habían derramado por todas las calles de Nueva York, esto obliga al resto de Vengadores a retirarse para liberar a sus compañeros. En el combate final los Vengadores darán buena cuenta de los villanos, aunque el Barón Zemo logrará escapar.
