In "null," Tony Stark’s life hangs in the balance after a heart injury leaves him dependent on the Iron Man armor for survival—now, he can’t remove it. With Happy and Pepper convinced Iron Man is responsible for Stark’s disappearance, they call the police, forcing the armored hero to flee. When Hawkeye attacks Stark’s factory and kidnaps Pepper, Iron Man is drawn into a desperate confrontation, only to see his enemy escape. Meanwhile, the Black Widow is taken back to Russia by her former handlers. As Pepper begins to see Iron Man in a new light, she convinces the authorities to stand down—leaving the future uncertain.
