“El signo de la serpiente”

"El signo de la serpiente" marks a pivotal moment in Los Vengadores #14 (1970), a 25 ESP comic that delivers high-stakes intrigue with a political edge. Written by Stan Lee and F. Sesén, and illustrated by Don Heck with inks by the same, the story unfolds as the Avengers confront a dangerous propaganda campaign at the UN, where the General Chen exploits a recent attack to rally support—forcing the team into a moral dilemma. When Goliat shocks everyone by denouncing the Serpientes’ tactics and withdrawing his backing, chaos erupts, culminating in a shocking twist when Captain America appears—claiming he’s not a captive but a willing ally—only for Hawkeye and the Black Widow to uncover the truth behind the impostor. The cover, by López Espí, captures the tension with a striking, dramatic composition.
