Los Vengadores son engañados por el Dr. Muerte para que se dirijan a su país. Una vez allí son detenidos y encarcelados. Se escapan sin dificultad, pero comprueban que un campo de fuerza les impide salir de Latveria. Se dirigen al castillo de Muerte para desactivarlo. Allí los espera el monarca, pues su plan es acabar con ellos para provocar una crisis diplomática con los EEUU cuando Los 4 Fantásticos quieran invadir su país para vengar a los Vengadores. Los héroes se enfrentan individualmente al villano y consiguen al fin dejarlo inconsciente, desactivan el escudo de fuerza y regresan a casa.
