“Bump Reading”

This August 1952 Dell issue puts Bugs Bunny front and center in a breezy summer scene, water-skiing at full speed while hanging on to a fishing rod as a leaping sailfish strains against the line — a perfectly absurd vacation gone sideways. Ralph Heimdahl's cover work captures Bugs mid-splash with that trademark smirk, red skis cutting through the waves as if this were all part of the plan. Fifty-two pages of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies fun for just a dime made this a terrific summer pickup in 1952.
