“Perilous Passage”

Bugs Bunny takes center stage on this cheerful June 1961 Dell issue, dressed in a red jacket and straw hat while serenading with a violin — all smiles despite a grumpy bald fellow leaning out of a window behind him, thrusting forward a mug labeled "GIVE." Fred Abranz's cover art captures that signature Looney Tunes charm, pairing Bugs's breezy confidence with just the right dose of deadpan comedy. Inside, Tony Strobl brings the humor to the pages, and Dell sweetens the deal with a prizes contest and their Trading Post of Great Values.

Two little green men from the center of the Earth accidently break into Bugs' burrow on their way to gather sunshine to defeat the light-sensitive "clod people" who have conquered their city. After finding that sunshine can't be gathered in sacks, the little men take Bugs' flashlight back to fight the clods. Bugs tags along to help.
