“The Hotel Hassle”

From Dell's December 1959 issue of Looney Tunes, this cheerful cover by Tony Strobl sets up a perfectly absurd domestic situation: Bugs Bunny strolls in carrying a red toolbox and a screwdriver, looking thoroughly pleased with himself, while a bewildered Elmer Fudd sits at a table with his knife and butter — staring up at a toaster that's been rather creatively "wired" directly into a wall outlet mid-air. It's a snapshot of that timeless Looney Tunes dynamic, where Bugs's confidence and Elmer's confusion need no explanation whatsoever. Inside, Carl Fallberg's story "The Hotel Hassle" promises more of the same delightful comedy, brought to life by Fred Abranz's artwork.
