The second chapter of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's Crown of Shadows arc opens with a striking image: a dark-haired figure with a streak of green reaches desperately through churning water, their expression tense and searching, while a glowing key bobs just out of reach in the background. Rodriguez's cover work captures both the cold menace of the water and the raw urgency of that outstretched hand in a way that feels genuinely unsettling. With "In the Cave" as the chapter title, this 2009 IDW issue promises the kind of atmosphere that makes Locke & Key so compellingly hard to put down.
