Locke & Key: Clockworks #2
Gabriel Rodriguez's cover for Locke & Key: Clockworks #2 is a wonderfully unsettling piece of work — a snarling, red-haired creature wrapped in a newspaper screaming the word "RAMPAGE" bursts through shattering glass while pinning a smaller, pale-faced figure beneath it, copper pipes and disembodied eyeballs completing the gloriously weird tableau. Joe Hill and Rodriguez continue their "Clockworks" arc with this second issue, and the sheer anarchic energy on display here suggests the story inside is every bit as wild as its cover promises. At $3.99 from IDW, this 2011 chapter of one of horror comics' most inventive series is a treat for fans who appreciate artwork that goes all-in on imaginative dread.
