When the plan falls through and Marrell cannot find a buyer, Millie enlists the help of Eph (a family friend) to locate Mr. Beddenborgh, a wealthy man who proves to be sentimental about the rocker and agrees to wire $500 to Marrell for it. The story concludes with Beddenborgh gifting the rocker to Millie as thanks for reminding him of his granddaughter, while Marrell receives the funds needed to help save the Whites' home. A subplot involves Cinder, Millie's dog, causing mischief and nearly getting lost during the events.
