Right in front of Pop's Chocklit Shoppe, a pint-sized Archie comes zooming toward us on a toy race car numbered "1," his grin as wide as the awning behind him, while Betty, Jughead, and Veronica look on with equal parts alarm and delight. Published in 1991 to mark Archie's 50th Anniversary, this inaugural digest — cover by Frank Rocco — is a charming package of kid-sized Riverdale fun. With a story titled "Behind the Ape Ball!" also on the docket, there's plenty of playful adventure packed into these pages.
