In "Bus Fuss," Ambrose tries running his own bus service, only to have Little Archie and Moose take over with their usual antics. Meanwhile, Evelyn Evernever and her friend Wendy Day launch a cooking school, stirring up their own kind of chaos.

Bob Bolling — the writer-artist who created the entire Little Archie sub-universe starting in 1956 at the direction of publisher John Goldwater and editor Harry Shorten — conceived Ambrose Pipps as one of several characters with no counterpart in the mainstream Archie line, filling the narrative role of a hapless, loyal hanger-on whom the gang perpetually exploits. During the stretch from 1957 to 1965, Bolling worked exclusively on Little Archie-related material, writing, drawing, inking, and lettering roughly half of each giant-sized quarterly issue, with Dexter Taylor (his former roommate and studio partner) handling much of the rest. Little Ambrose #1 was produced within this same creative pipeline — cover and interior art credited to Bolling — as one of several spin-off experiments Bolling executed alongside Little Archie in Animal Land and Little Archie Mystery Comics. Because no second issue followed, the book functioned as a one-shot tryout, consistent with Archie's practice of the era of launching titles as single issues to test newsstand demand.
