Lise op Monstereiland #2

The cover of this second volume from Berte and Barcas sets a wonderfully chaotic tone: young Lise sprints in wide-eyed alarm through a rocky, smoky landscape while a purple monster, a small orange critter, and a green blob scramble alongside her — and looming above them all, a giant green reptilian creature rides what appears to be an enormous flying turtle through a pastel sky. Kristof Berte's expressive, cartoonish linework gives every character a burst of personality, from Lise's heart-printed outfit to the panicked faces of her monstrous companions. "Het levende land" promises the kind of all-ages adventure that keeps both kids and grown-ups turning pages.
