Élise et les nouveaux partisans #[nn]
A striking collaboration between writer Dominique Grange and the incomparable Jacques Tardi, this 2021 Delcourt release announces itself with a cover that immediately draws the eye. Tardi's linework renders a young red-haired woman in stark profile, her calm face rising above a dense, monochrome crowd of protesters, riot police, and raised placards — a lone figure looming large against the turbulent mass below, with a splash of red in the distant background hinting at something burning or unfurling. It's a quietly powerful image that speaks to themes of solidarity, resistance, and individual resolve within collective struggle.
