Young Ollie decides to help out a carpenter building a garage next door, convinced his enthusiasm will make for a great learning experience—but his well-intentioned efforts with cement, nails, planks, and saws only manage to frustrate the increasingly exasperated tradesman. By the time the dust settles, Ollie has learned a valuable (if painful) lesson about the importance of tool care and staying out of the way.

A young inventor decides to become a big game trapper and sets out to catch live animals using various snares and traps from a how-to book—but his schemes keep backfiring in comical ways as he repeatedly snares his own father instead of wildlife. As he attempts trap after trap with his friend, each contraption seems perfectly designed to catch the one thing it absolutely shouldn't: Dad in his everyday clothes and his fur coat. Will this persistent young trapper ever actually catch what he's after, or is his father destined to be his only catch?

Li'l Lumberjack sets out on a walk through the woods to check that everything is fine, but a series of well-meaning rescue attempts—first helping a lost bear cub, then a baby bird, then a calf—lead to encounters with increasingly protective animal parents. As one mishap tumbles into the next, our hero finds himself chased deeper and deeper into the forest, ironically ending up exactly where he was trying to avoid.

Young Ollie decides to start his own ant farm after his Pop refuses to buy him one, collecting ants from a rotten log to begin his new farming venture. When Pop unknowingly grabs the log to use for firewood, the ants have other plans—and what follows is a comedic cascade of chaos as one collection disaster leads directly into another. A clever little lesson in why a father might have good reasons to discourage his son's hobbyist ambitions.
