The third volume of Ernst's cheerful Belgian series for Dupuis finds the Zappeurs family tackling a sheer mountain face in full climbing gear — a burly, red-nosed dad clinging to the rock above while the kids scramble enthusiastically below him against a warm sunset sky. Subtitled Zappeur et sans reproche, this 1995 album promises the same good-natured domestic comedy the series is known for, here transplanted to hilariously impractical alpine heights. It's an inviting package from Dupuis, perfectly capturing the series' knack for putting an ordinary family into wonderfully extraordinary situations.
