About this Collection

This first volume of Bernard Werber's Les Thanatonautes graphic novel adaptation follows a group of scientists and explorers who, inspired by the mystery of death, develop methods to venture into the afterlife and return. Titled Le Temps des bricoleurs, it sets up their early, makeshift experiments and the philosophical and practical challenges they face in mapping the unknown territories beyond life. The story is based on Werber's original novel of the same name, adapted by the author himself with art by Frédéric Peynet.

"Le Temps des bricoleurs" introduces Michael Pinson, a boy haunted by questions about death since childhood, and his enigmatic companion Raoul Razorbak, as they embark on a quiet but profound journey into the unknown. Written by Éric Corbeyran and illustrated by Pierre Taranzano—with coloring by Ruby—this first issue of Les Thanatonautes sets a haunting, introspective tone, blending curiosity with the eerie allure of the afterlife. The cover, also by Pierre Taranzano, captures the mood of their strange, solemn quest.
