Published by Gallimard in 2010, this French graphic album — Les Grands Soldats, une aventure de Cathal Crann — immediately arrests the eye with its vivid red cover: a towering, broad-shouldered ape in a dark military coat looms over a tiny, bewildered figure dwarfed at his feet.
